Inclusive rugby in Rome: Raccoons and Berlin Bruisers
Il Fatto Quotidiano covers the Rugby XV match between Raccoons Rugby Roma and Berlin Bruisers and the club’s commitment to inclusion.

In February 2025, Raccoons Rugby Roma met Berlin Bruisers in a Rugby XV friendly played in Rome, near the Park of the Aqueducts, during the Six Nations weekend.
The match was part of the preparation for the 2025 Union Cup in Oslo and brought together two clubs that make inclusion a practical part of their sporting identity.
Il Fatto Quotidiano covered the fixture and described a project combining rugby, welcome and social action. Its report explores the birth of the Raccoons, the meeting with Germany’s historic queer rugby club and the awareness initiatives promoted by the team.
For us, Rugby XV means competition, training and mutual support. It also means building an environment where nobody has to give up their identity in order to step onto the pitch.
