Raccoons win the IGR Global Touch Cup in Leeds
Raccoons Rugby Roma’s Touch team wins the first IGR Global Touch Cup at the 2026 festival in Leeds.

Less than two years after the club was founded, Raccoons Rugby Roma won the first IGR Global Touch Cup. The tournament took place in Leeds in May 2026 during IGR’s inaugural festival dedicated to Touch rugby.
Sixteen teams took part. The Raccoons arrived as a young side at their first international Touch competition of this level, building confidence match after match before winning the final.
The result also reflects the project being developed in Rome: a club open to people with different backgrounds and identities, supported by technical organisation, regular training and the ambition to compete. Inclusion and sporting performance can make each other stronger.
Sports Media LGBT+ published an in-depth feature on the team’s journey, the birth of its Touch side and what the victory meant to players, coaches and the wider community.
