THE GAME · TOUCH

Two formats.
Two different pitches.

Raccoons play Touch in both FIR Lazio regional Rugby al Tocco activity and FIT Touch under the rules adopted by ItaliaTouch. The format and field dimensions differ.

FIR Lazio · 5-a-side Touch

Illustrative reduced-size field for the FIR Trophy.

FIR · 5 players
TRY AREA FIELD · 50–65 m TRY AREA HALFWAY TRY LINE TRY LINE 5 m 5 m EXAMPLE · 60 × 32 m

FIR game rules set a minimum field size of 50 × 30 m and a maximum of 65 × 35 m (length × width). The 2026/27 Lazio regional document requires markings to follow the FIR Rugby Touch and Rugby Tag rules. Try-area depth is not specified: illustrative diagram, not to scale.

FIR format

The FIR Trophy is played five-a-side, in a reduced-size, limited-contact format for regional activity and different experience levels.

Event rules

Touch replaces tackling. Restarts, duration, team composition and adaptations are set by the current FIR rules and event instructions.

Regional circuit

FIR Lazio events follow FIR Rugby al Tocco provisions. The specific event rules apply to play and organisation.

FIT · ItaliaTouch standard

The international standard uses the full-size field.

FIT · 6 on-field
TRY AREA · 7 m FIELD · 70 × 50 m TRY AREA · 7 m HALFWAY TRY LINE TRY LINE TOTAL · 84 × 50 m

Standard dimensions are 70 × 50 m between try lines, plus two 7 m try areas: 84 × 50 m overall. Try lines separate the playing area from the try areas. Competition conditions may specify variations.

Six touches

A light touch stops the carrier; play resumes with a rollball at the mark. Possession changes after the sixth touch.

Passes and try

No forward passes. Score by grounding the ball beyond the try line before being touched; the dummy half cannot score.

Spacing and safety

Defenders retreat 7 m at a rollball under FIT rules. No tackling or pushing; play with continuity and fair play.

Check the regulations and conditions for the event you attend; any adaptations must be stated by the organiser.

Rugby without tackles

Speed, play
and mixed teams.

In Touch, tackling is replaced by a touch: the game rewards speed, communication and teamwork. It is an accessible way to try rugby, learn together and share the pitch.
